GENERATION OF LOCAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF VILLAGE TOURISM AND HOMESTAY- A study on India
Abstract
In a country as diverse and as India has rich heritage of prestine past with its unique culture ,tradition in different unique locations blended with numerous distinctive manner, habits and cuisine varieties still India is always suffering from unemployment problem. So we can use Indian uniqueness for creating new employment opportunities by developing the multiplier effect of tourism by promoting rural tourism with the introduction of Homestay ( without using any artificial and harmful aids) facilities in rural area. Tourism has received a major boost in the past decades as Indian government has realized the huge potential it offers for long-term eco-friendly economic development which is also very relevant for pollution and global warming. So the main objective of this study is to develop rural tourism which is based on the exchange of culture through introducing the way of local livelihood and living condition, art, music, dance, and culture are sustained but also to encourage infrastructure development. Tourism is one of the most suitable options for creation of new employment opportunities. India is a magnum of diverse geography and cultures, offering 30 world heritage sites, 25 bio–geographical zones and attractive beaches. Tourism in India accounts for 6.8% of the GDP and the 3rd largest foreign exchange earners for the country with USD 18.13 Billion. Mainly the study is concerned with the development of local employment generation through the identification of holistic development of rural eco-friendly tourism potentials and the economic development to the rural people as well as nation’s economic development with revenue generation.
